Shahab Qarni is a Maryland-based Pakistani-American banker, entrepreneur and human rights activist who is the President of Bankers Resource Group. He has a Masters degree in International Affairs and has worked for various national and international banks throughout Pakistan, Philippines, Hong Kong, UAE and USA.
Mr. Qarni moved to the USA in 1988 and continued with his banking career with several prestigious banking institutions. In 1999, he established his own firm, a banking consultancy company called Bankers Resource Group. He is actively involved in Maryland state and local politics, joining the Maryland Republican Party in 1994 and serving in its Central Committee for four years. He also served the GOP National Committee as the Chair of Asian American Outreach. Mr.Qarni has also served as the President of Maryland Muslim Council.
From 1997-1999 Mr. Qarni represented Human Rights in Asia at the UN Commission on Human Rights working on issues of East Timor and South Asia. He is a regular speaker and guest on US Electronic and Print Media and has delivered speeches at the Washington Jewish Council and Washington Times Editorial Forum. He has also testified at UN Commission on Human Rights, US Senate and Maryland General Assembly.
